Can this happen in America?
Yes!
The banks have 30 trillion dollars in debts that they know have no collateral to back them up with. Sooner or later, they will have to admit that their assets are nothing but worthless paper.
Then there will be an financial collapse that will make 2008 look like a banner year.
The only solution will be to dissolve these fraudulent banks and let their debts become noncollectable. This may cause many small, local banks to go under, but the majority should survive.
